Coarse Fishing Tackle Synopsis: The JW Young 13ft Trotter Rod

Coarse anglers like me are not the same as other fishers. Rather than pursuing premier classes of fish such as trout and salmon, I am in favour of pursuing many different kinds of fish, and wondering what’s going to show up at the end of my line. Because of that, my coarse fishing tackle must be a multifaceted as it can be. Bream, tench, chub, pike and many others all are fair game, provided I can outsmart them! To give myself the best chance of success, I choose both my fishing locales and tackle with great deliberation. Tackle that works for one species may not work for another. When you are chasing the crafty pike, don’t try to use tackle deliberated for a smaller fish! These are some facts concerning a rod I truly favour: the JW Young 13ft trotter rod.

Coarse Fishing Tackle: Main Aspects of the JW Young 13ft Trotter Rod

Of the many coarse fish classes, pike is my favourite to pursue. Pike are cunning, forceful fish that are powerful fighters when you hook them. This specific JW Young rod is a remarkable float rod. I have noticed that its tip action is crisp and reactive, a nice component to have. Because it is 13ft long, it is just the thing for my needs, and I typically fit my rod with line that has a rating of 2 to 4lb test strength. This specific JW Young version has got a compacted 3-section frame made from an exceptionally narrow, extra high modulus blank. It is ringed especially for centrepin as well as fixed spool fishing reels. One aspect which I am thankful for is the sensitivity in the top part of the rod, which in addition to keeping the hooks from coming loose, also provides lots of strength and control to the bottom sections of the rod.

The fact that the blank is extremely thin is still another element I favour. This renders the rod exceptionally comfortable to hang on to when fishing excursions are lengthy, an important issue if I am stick float fishing. This particular JW Young fishing rod is a superior piece of coarse fishing tackle, and is equipped with a superior quality screw up reel fitting which assures that the reel remains securely in position. This reel fitting works without difficulty, plus I am yet to see in slippage or trouble with screwing up or down. Once it’s fixed to the rod, the reel is exceptionally secure.

Coarse Fishing Tackle: Final Thoughts on the JW Young 13ft Trotter Rod

JW young fishing rods are famous for their excellent quality, and this ranks highly among the series. It is designed with a hinged hook retainer positioned deliberately above the handle, an element that is very beneficial when a person is moving about. Aside from that, this retainer is hinged, rendering it capable of folding out of your way. This decreases the probability of the retainer being snagged by the reel line as you are casting, yet another great feature.

All in all, this is a solidly built, highly functional piece of coarse fishing tackle that I enjoy owning and am content to recommend.
