Fly FIshing

This form of fishing uses man-made bait instead of the usual worms and insects. This bait or ‘fly’ is made with plastic, foam. yarn or something else and is meant to create a somewhat similar form of the insects in the area. It is then tied to a hook and then a spin rod. This is also referred to as spin rod fishing. The colors are usually very bright and attractive which allows them to lure a larger scale of fish species, for example, saltwater fly fishing use sea flies. On a number of rivers, fly fishing is becoming more and more common and many find it more effective than traditional fishing. Below are the most widely used fiies:

* Dry flies- as the name implies, these kind of flies imitate insects that float on the surface of the water. The tricky part is making sure that the fly moves in a way that mimics the natural insect and that it doesn’t move against the current. Why? Fish really can determine if the fly looks like food, if it doesn’t mimic the insects movements, your fly will be ignored.

* Wet flies-  resemble insects or bait that have drowned or are drowning below the waters surface. The oldest form of fly fishing known.

* Nymph flies- a nymph is the stage in an insects lifecyle between an egg and adult. Nymph fishing is very popular because fish love nymph for food. The action of emerging from an egg is what a nymph fly imitates.

* Streamers and buck tail flies- focus on catching bigger fish by copying the movements of smaller fish. Streamers are tied with feathers wheras buck tails with hair, thats about much their difference. One of the hardest forms of fishing since it needs quite an amout of skill and rod manipulation.

Other fly fishing methods employ one or more of the above methods. Making sure that the flies copy fish’s food movements is very important. Experts are finding more ways for flies to be effective for catching other kinds of fish aside from the usual Trout and Salmon.

Be it salt or fresh water, fly fishing is proving to be a very widespread method of fishing mostly because of its effectivity.
