Picking The Best Fishing Spots

There are 2 types of fishermen: Those who fish for fun and those who fish with the ultimate target of catching that trophy fish! No matter whether you’re fishing for “business or pleasure” finding the correct fishing spots is of vital importance – or else you will have an equally successful day endeavoring to catch sharks in your swimming pool!

Before you decide to set your Gps unit to the local fishing spot, you must make certain you have all the essential fishing equipment. As we found out a little while ago, a fishing rod, line and sinker does not qualify for complete fishing equipment! There are various kinds of fishing rods and lines from which to choose, not even to mention the range of hooks, weights and bait. And you also require a net for the moment that a big one grabs your hook… and preferably some kind of a fishing rod support so that you do not have to hang onto the rod for the whole day.

Your choice of fishing spots is mostly determined by the type of fish that you would like to catch. Naturally you have to go to the coastline to catch a large piece of tuna or a Zambezi shark while a large striped bass might be lurking in a local dam, but choosing fishing spots is a bit more technical than this!

If you are fishing with a large crowd or you have an inexperienced youngster with you, the best choice would be to fish from the shore, rather than attempting to find the perfect fishing spots by boat. If, on the flip side, you are fishing on your own nothing is stopping you from discovering different alternatives and trying to catch a fish that you have never caught before.

There are many magazines and other guides where you can find helpful fishing advice. This ranges from the best type of rod and lure to use to where to find certain kinds of fish. Angler shops also have skilled staff that will be only too pleased to point you in the right direction. Don’t be afraid to ask! Judging by all the many “fisherman tales” out there, fisherman loves sharing their experiences and fishing tips!

The thing about fishing is that it is everything but predictable! A good fishing spot on one day might turn out to be a waste of time the next. Ordinarily a bit of patience and perseverance go a long way, but if you have invested several hours at the same spot without even a hint of a bite, you may have to take your fishing tackle and go search for  greener pastures…

Fishing can be as much fun or as much work as you choose it to be! It’s usually a good idea to keep the fun-fishermen and the business-fisherman away from each other, as the different approaches to the sport can quickly turn out to be quite a disaster!

Regardless of what excuse you use to go fishing, just make sure that you get pleasure from every minute next to the water!
